Fennel has a fresh and aromatic anise flavor, and every part of the plant is edible. the bulb can be shaved is delightful and crisp eaten raw in salads.  Cooked it becomes silky and tender, delightful sautéed, roasted or in soups.  The frilly fronds can be chopped up and added as a finishing garnish, or added to your stocks and soups for a layering of flavors.
