2020 Clos Des Mourres "Pompette"
Region: Southern Rhône, France
Grapes: Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc
Organic & Biodynamic
Pompette is the French word for tipsy and this wine is so fun. It dances on your tongue the same way you'll be dancing after a few glasses. You'll be shaking your shoulders after the first sip. The bright acidity hits you like a cool ocean breeze, but what follows was even more special. It's somehow light while holding a medium body throughout the palate.
The winemaking duo of Ingrid & Jean-Philippe Bouchet grew up in the fields of Southern Rhône and have been picking grapes their whole lives. Their winery "Clos Des Mourres" is named after the dandelion weed "mourre" that Jean-Philippe's grandparents would use for spring salads at the beginning of the budding season.
Tasting notes: Slight tropical fruits give way to striking acidity and a nice roundness. Mango, papaya, and pineapple collide with ripe honeycrisp apple. It'll make you smile.
