2018 Los Chacayes
Appellation/Region: Los Chacayes, Mendoza, Argentina
Monastrell is mourvedre and it thrives in the Uco Valley of Argentina. The climate is similar to that of the Rhône Valley, so if the winemaking is done right the wines can dress to impress. This one does just that. It has a nice medium body with ample freshness.
Winemaker Eduardo Soler and his two friends started this passion project in 2012. They're an adventurous crew who loves climbing mountains, skiing, and all things outdoors. Eduardo manages a ski resort near Mendoza. He's also been passionate about wine making since he was young and "Ver Sacrum" refers to when the old sent their young to find new villages, bringing grape vines to start new vineyards, the send off was called the sacred spring or Ver Sacrum.
Tasting notes: Sweet black cherry and cocoa, with hints of tobacco and dried herbs.
