2019 Domaine De Villargeau "Chicago"
Appellation/Region: Coteaux du Giennois, Loire Valley, France
Grapes: Gamay (80%) Pinot Noir (20%)
This wine is what every dinner table yearns for. It pairs well with almost everything. The balance of body, fruit, and freshness plays well with meat, veggies, cheese, and swordfish.
Since 1991 Thibault family has been producing incredible Sauvignon blanc in 95% of their vineyards, but it's that last 5% that can be the show stoppers. These wines are made with passion and a deep connection with their landscape. The diverse soil structure helps create complexity in all of their wine. This is Loire's answer to Beaujolais and something we'd drink every evening.
Tasting notes: Ripe dark purple fruits, blueberry jam, and slight baking spice/mushroom.
