This wines are absolutely stunning. Of the three representations of gamay we have from Grand Pré this one is the most complex. It has medium tannin that stands up to grilled meats and vegetables. This wine's texture is really fun, its zippy and juicy at first, but then the tannins take control to prepare your mouth for some juicy and fat forward foods.
Romain Zordan of Château de Grand Pré has Beaujolais in his veins. His father, cousin, and uncle, are all great winemakers as well. He has been making natural Beaujolais since 2009, though much of the vineyards were planted more than 60 years ago. He farms to respect the environment and allow for deep root growth leading to greater complexity of flavors and expression of terroir. He trained under the great natural winemaker Jean François Ganevat who now buys grapes from Romain for his famous field blends.
