Peppers, Calabrian (by Weight)

Also known as the Devil's Kiss, Calabrian peppers are native to the nutrient-dense, clay soils of Calabrian and one of the most popular culinary peppers in Southern Italy.  They tout a fruity, smokey flavor mixed with a moderate to hot level of spice.  Stateside, you'll usually find these hot little numbers either dried or preserved in olive oil, but Washashore Farm is growing these peppers so they're available oh so fresh.  (The seeds are a gift from one of our favorite island chef's Nonna.) Use them in pastas, pickle or stuff them, layer into sandwiches, flavor olive oils, or eat a thin sliver on a piece of dark chocolate - a devil's kiss indeed!
