2017 Domaine Lesuffler "La Folletière"
Region: Normandy, France
Here's France's gift to fall in New England. This mostly sweet, funky, and fresh cider out of Normandy has the wine lovers loving on some French cider. It reminds me of crisp fall afternoons in the orchards of Massachusetts. The piercing apple flavor with high acid and brightness will bring back all of your New England childhood memories.
Benoît Lesuffleur is a wine salesman in Paris and his family has owned orchards north of the city since the 60s. Until Benoît grew up, the family had always sold their juice to bigger cider companies, but his passion for wine and a youth full of cider made for a perfect equation. He makes some of France's best cider that is fit for a Queen. It's made in the style of champagne, and Queen Elizabeth II enjoyed it in the past with her favorite duck dish of Normandy, hence the beautiful label.
