Peppers, Ají Charapita

Native to the jungles of Northern Peru, Charapitas were mostly harvested from the wild and have only recently begun to be cultivated.  These small, hot and round peppers have a distinctly fruity, citrusy aroma and the heat of a cayenne.  They are nicknamed the "mother of all chilis" due to their extreme rarity and are the most expensive chili in the world.
