Howdy, Pet Nat lovers! This wine is for you. It is bright and light, but packs a serious punch of different flavors with a bit of that good kinda funk. It contains a blend of native red and white grapes from the Douro in Portugal. This part of Portugal is steep and rough and tough and challenging. Making wine here is not easy, but when it is done right, it is special. Most of these varietals were planted over 80 years ago and still cling onto the steep slopes of Alto Douro.
Quick note: What is pet nat? It's any sparkling wine made in the méthode ancestrale, meaning the wine is bottled before primary fermentation is finished, without the addition of secondary yeasts or sugars. So, pet nat wine is a low sugar wine.
Tiago Sampaio is a young and innovative winemaker that is flexing his muscles on the the natty wine world right now. He's proved his ability to work with a wide variety of native grapes and makes wine for all the cool kids of the world.
Tasting notes: Young, bright, and full of red cherry and strawberry fruit with mouthwatering acidity and a smooth finish.
